icesus
Do you remember those kicks you had back in High School and College when you got hooked on a game and played it for all hours of the day and night and it hurt or almost hurt your grades? Well I had one of those during college, and it’s name was MUD. I enjoy them because they make my imagination do it’s thing as I wander through a text-only world, fighting monsters, completing quests, and being an all-around nice guy. In fact, I enjoyed them so much that for about 3 months in college I downloaded the ROM source code, and got to work on my own MUD. Well, that didn’t last very long, but it is one of those binges that I really enjoyed.
Why am I bringing this up? Well once again my name is MUD. I have been playing Icesus with a buddy. The wisdom that I have gained since college is definitely alleviating the massive hurt that these games put on my life, however, I still enjoy them. If you are interested in MUDs, then I would recommend giving Icesus a look. It certainly isn’t a MUD for beginners, but it is quite enjoyable.
Also, if you are like me and don’t have a good MUD client (will I didn’t until now…) check out Mud Master 2000. It is free, and has some pretty neat features. Zmud is still my favorite MUD client of all time, but right now I don’t feel like spending the money for it unless I decide I am really going to be playing a MUD for awhile.
